Tsukuri
作りtsoo-KOO-ree
The fitting or body positioning phase of a judo throw — the act of entering into position to execute the technique after kuzushi has been established.
Context & Usage
Tsukuri is the second phase of throwing technique, between kuzushi (balance breaking) and kake (execution). It includes the foot placement, body rotation, and positioning relative to the opponent that puts tori in the optimal mechanical position for the throw.
